매일 말씀 묵상 (QT)

가나안 땅의 대부분을 점령했을 무렵, 여호수아는 늙고 나이가 많아졌습니다. 그때 하나님께서는 아직 이스라엘이 점령해야 할 땅이 남아 있으니 계속 나아가라고 명령하시며, 그 땅을 각 지파에게 분배하는 일을 맡기셨습니다.

하나님께 여호수아의 육체적 나이는 문제가 되지 않았습니다. 또한 여호수아 역시 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 데 자신의 나이가 아무런 걸림돌이 되지 않았습니다. 그는 언제나 한결같이 하나님 앞에서 순종했고, 하나님은 그를 통해 하나님의 백성을 위한 영토를 넓혀 가셨습니다.

우리도 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 사명에 순종할 수 없는 이유들을 얼마든지 생각해 낼 수 있습니다. 그러나 아무리 많은 장애물과 어려움이 있어도 믿음의 눈으로 바라보면, 그 어떤 것도 우리의 길을 막을 수 없음을 깨닫게 됩니다.
오늘 우리에게 여호수아와 같은 믿음이 있기를 바랍니다. 우리의 발목을 잡는 모든 것을 뿌리치고, 오늘도 하나님의 나라를 우리의 삶과 가정, 그리고 이 땅 위에 확장해 가는 삶을 살아내기를 기도합니다.

When most of the land of Canaan had been conquered, Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. At that time, the Lord told him that there was still land left for Israel to possess and commanded him to continue moving forward, entrusting him with the task of distributing the land among the tribes.

To God, Joshua’s physical age was not a problem. Likewise, Joshua’s age was never an obstacle to his obedience to God’s word. He remained consistently faithful before the Lord, and through him God continued to expand the territory for God’s people.

We too can easily come up with many reasons why we cannot obey the mission God has given us. But when we look with the eyes of faith, we realize that no matter how many obstacles or difficulties stand before us, nothing can ultimately block the path God has prepared.

I pray that today we may have faith like Joshua. May we shake off everything that holds us back and live in such a way that God’s kingdom expands in our lives, our homes, and throughout this land.

오늘 말씀은 이스라엘 민족에게 하나님께서 주셨던 모든 승리에 대한 기록입니다. 그들은 가나안의 대부분의 왕국과 그들의 땅을 점령하였습니다. 이제 남은 것은 각 지파별로 약속받은 땅을 분배받는 것입니다. 이 시점에서 그들은 하나님과 동행했던 지난 시간을 돌아보고, 하나님께서 어떻게 자신들을 인도하셨으며 하나님의 약속이 어떻게 이루어졌는지를 기억했습니다. 이 과정을 통해 그들은 새로운 시작을 준비하게 됩니다.

과거에 우리가 받았던 하나님의 은혜와 축복을 기억하는 것은 신앙생활에서 매우 중요합니다. 지난날 우리를 돌보시고 인도하시고 축복하셨던 하나님의 역사를 기억하는 경험이, 오늘도 하나님께서 우리와 함께하신다는 확신을 줍니다. 또한 기대와 희망으로 내일을 준비하게 됩니다.

12월입니다. 지난 한 해 동안 우리와 동행하셨던 하나님, 그리고 하나님께서 우리를 위해 행하셨던 모든 일들을 기억하는 시간을 많이 가지시기 바랍니다. 그래서 확신과 믿음으로 다가오는 새해에 우리에게 주실 새로운 은혜와 축복을 준비하시기 바랍니다.

Today’s passage invites us to remember the many victories God gave to Israel. After conquering most of the kingdoms in Canaan, all that remained was for each tribe to receive its promised land. At this moment, the people paused and looked back on their journey with God—how the Lord had guided them, protected them, and fulfilled every promise. In remembering, they found strength to begin again.

We also need this practice of remembering. When we look back on the ways God has cared for us, led us, and blessed us, our faith is renewed. These memories assure us that the God who walked with us yesterday is the same God who walks with us today. They fill us with hope for tomorrow.

Now, as we enter December, I pray you will take time to reflect on the past year—on the God who stayed close, who carried you through struggles, and who poured out quiet blessings along the way. And as you remember, may your heart be ready to receive the new grace and blessings God is preparing for the coming year.

이와 같이 여호수아가 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하신 대로 그 온 땅을 점령하여 이스라엘 지팡의 구분에 따라 기업으로 주매 그 땅에 전쟁이 그쳤더라. (23)

여호수아가 약속의 땅 가나안에 들어갔을 때, 하나님은 모세를 통해 여호수아에게 특별한 명령을 주셨습니다. 그것은 가나안 땅에 살고 있는 모든 민족과 족속을 몰아내라는 것이었습니다. 하나님이 그 땅을 이스라엘에게 주셨고, 이방 민족이 그곳에 머무는 한 그 땅에는 진정한 평화가 올 수 없기 때문입니다. 그러나 하나님께는 그보다 더 큰 목적이 있었습니다. 그것은 이스라엘 민족이 가나안 땅에 있던 이방 민족의 문화, 종교, 혈통과 섞이지 않고, 거룩한 하나님의 백성으로 남기를 원하셨기 때문입니다.

하나님은 오늘 우리에게도 동일한 명령을 하십니다. 우리의 삶 속에서 모든 죄를 온전히 몰아내라는 것입니다. 날마다 죄와 싸워 이기고, 어떠한 변명과 타협도 하지 말라고 명령하십니다. 하나님의 명령을 받은 우리는 이 싸움을 통해서 우리의 삶을 더 거룩하게 만들어가야 합니다.

오늘도 자신 안에 있는 죄를 몰아내기 위해 싸우는 모든 이들에게 하나님께서 능력을 부어 주실 줄 믿습니다. 또한 이 싸움이 끝나는 그날, 하나님께서 우리에게 영생을 상으로 주실 것을 믿습니다.

So Joshua took the entire land, just as the Lord had directed Moses, and he gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal divisions. Then the land had rest from war. (23)

When Israel entered the land of Canaan, God commanded Joshua to drive out the nations living there. This was not merely about taking territory; it was because God had given the land to Israel, and peace could not flourish if opposing powers remained. But even more importantly, God was protecting God’s people. God did not want Israel to become blended with the pagan cultures, religions, and bloodlines around them. God desired Israel to remain the holy people God had called them to be.

In the same way, God calls us to pursue holiness today. We are commanded to drive out every sin that tries to take root in our hearts. We cannot make excuses or carve out exceptions. God invites us to live fully and faithfully in the life God has given us.

May God strengthen all who engage in this holy struggle, and may God bless them with strength and the promise of eternal life.

여호와께서 여호수아에게 이르시되 그들로 말미암아 두려워하지 말라 (6)

여호수아가 이끄는 이스라엘이 가나안 남쪽 지역을 모두 점령하자, 북쪽의 여러 민족들이 이스라엘과 싸우기 위해 연합합니다. 그들의 수가 바다의 모래 같았다고 기록되어 있습니다. 이때 하나님께서 여호수아에게 “두려워하지 말라”고 말씀하십니다. 이에 이스라엘은 담대히 싸워 연합군을 물리치고 승리하게 됩니다.

성경에는 ‘두려워하지 말라’라는 의미를 가진 표현이 100번 이상 쓰여저있습니다. 우리가 두려워한다는 것은 지금 우리의 생각과 마음이 하나님이 아닌 다른 것에 사로잡히거나 억눌려 있다는 뜻입니다. 그 결과 하나님의 능력이 우리를 통해 흘러나오지 못하고 어딘가에서 막혀 있다는 의미이기도 합니다.

다윗은 골리앗을 바라본 것이 아니라 하나님을 바라보았기에 두려워하지 않았습니다. 그리고 그가 두려워하지 않았기 때문에 하나님께서 다윗에게 능력을 주셔서 골리앗을 쓰러뜨리시고 승리하게 하셨습니다.

우리 앞을 가로막고 있는 어려움, 고통, 장애물을 극복하고 승리하는 첫 번째 방법은 두려워하지 않는 것입니다. 하나님께서 오늘 우리 모두에게 두려움을 이겨내는 믿음을 주시길 기도드립니다.

“The Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid because of them’” (v. 6)

After the Israelites, led by Joshua, conquered all the southern regions of Canaan, the northern nations united to fight against Israel. The Scripture records that their numbers were as countless as the sand on the seashore. At that moment, God spoke to Joshua, saying, “Do not be afraid of them.” Strengthened by this word, Israel fought boldly, defeated the united armies, and gained victory.

In the Bible, expressions meaning “Do not be afraid” appear more than one hundred times. When we are afraid, it means our thoughts and hearts are being captured or pressured by something other than God. As a result, God’s power cannot flow through us freely—it becomes blocked somewhere within us.

David did not look at Goliath; he looked to God. Because of that, he was not afraid. And since he did not fear, God empowered David to strike down Goliath and give Israel victory.

The first step to overcoming the difficulties, pains, and obstacles that stand before us is not to be afraid. I pray that today God will give each of us the faith to overcome fear.

“이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨으므로 여호수아가 이 모든 왕들과 그들의 땅을 단번에 빼앗으니라.” (42)

여호수아와 그가 이끌었던 이스라엘 군대는 계속되는 전투에서 승리합니다. 그들은 승리하는 방법을 배우게 되었고, 그 방법대로 계속해서 자신들의 앞을 가로막는 적들을 물리치게 됩니다. 그 방법은 바로 하나님의 약속을 의지하고, 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 것입니다.

오늘 우리도 동일한 방법으로 살아가야 합니다. 우리의 궁극적인 승리는 우리의 지식이나 능력, 혹은 세상으로부터 받는 인정이나 권력에서 오지 않습니다. 우리를 위해 싸우시는 하나님을 의지하고, 그분의 말씀에 순종하는 것이 유일한 길입니다.

오늘은 주일입니다. 하나님이 우리에게 주신 승리의 공식을 삶에 적용하며 살아가기로 결단하는 복된 날이 되시길 바랍니다.

“Because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel, Joshua was able to conquer all these kings and their lands at one stroke.” (v. 42)

Joshua and the Israelite army continued to win battle after battle. They learned how to live in victory, and by following the same way, they defeated every enemy that stood in their path. That way was simple: trust in God’s promise and obey God’s word.

We must live by the same way today. Our ultimate victory does not come from our knowledge, our abilities, our achievements, or the recognition or power we receive from the world. The only way is to rely on the God who fights for us and to walk in obedience.

Today is the Lord’s Day. May it be a blessed day as you decide to live by applying the victory formula God has given us.

여호수아가 그들에게 이르되 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말고 강하고 담대하라 너희가 맞서서 싸우는 대적에게 여호와께서 다 이와 같이 하시리라 하고 (25)

오늘 말씀에는 전쟁의 잔인한 장면들이 등장하여 마음이 불편하게 느껴질 수도 있습니다. 그러나 본문이 진짜 전하고자 하는 핵심은 하나님을 대적하여 설 자는 아무도 없다는 사실입니다. 모리 족속의 다섯 왕이 연합하여 이스라엘을 공격했지만, 그들은 하나님이 함께하시는 백성을 막을 수 없었습니다. 이스라엘이 강해서가 아니라, 하나님의 손이 그들과 함께하셨기 때문입니다.

우리의 삶에도 넘을 수 없을 것 같은 문제들이 한꺼번에 몰려올 때가 있습니다. 감당할 힘이 없다고 느껴지고, 마음은 작아지고, 두려움이 밀려올 때가 있습니다. 가정에 어려움이 생기거나, 건강에 어려움이 있거나, 재정적인 어려움 등, 우리에 삶을 막아서는 것은 너무도 많이 있습니다. 그러한 순간에 우리는 여호수아처럼, 우리 앞에 있는 어떠한 문제보다 크고 강하신 하나님을 의지해야 합니다. 그 하나님은 반드시 승리하시는 분이십니다.

오늘 우리가 처해 있는 상황이 어렵고 많은 문제가 우리 앞에 있을지라도, 하나님을 믿고, 의지함으로 승리하시길 바랍니다.

“Joshua said to them, ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged. Be strong and courageous, for this is what the Lord will do to all the enemies you fight.’” (v.25)

Today’s passage includes scenes of war that may feel uncomfortable to read. Yet the true message of this text is clear: no one can stand against God.
Five Amorite kings united to attack Israel, but they could not stop the people whom God was defending. Israel was not victorious because they were strong, but because the hand of God was with them.

In our own lives, there are times when overwhelming problems seem to rush in all at once. We feel we have no strength left, our hearts shrink, and fear rises within us. Whether it is trouble in the family, health challenges, financial burdens, or other hardships—so many things can stand in our way.

In those moments, like Joshua, we must rely on the God who is greater and stronger than any problem before us. Our God is the One who always wins the victory.

Even if today feels heavy and the road ahead seems filled with challenges, may your heart rest in the God who walks with you. Trust in God, lean on God’s strength, and take each step knowing God goes before you. And as you do, may you witness the victory that only God can give.

모세가 명령한 것은 여호수아가 이스라엘 온 회중과 여자들과 아이와 그들 중에 동행하는 거류민들 앞에서 낭독하지 아니한 말이 하나도 없었더라 (35)

하나님의 말씀을 불순종했던 아간을 처벌한 후에야 이스라엘은 하나님의 말씀에 따라 아이성을 점령할 수 있었습니다. 여호수아는 이스라엘이 큰 승리를 거둔 후 제단을 쌓아 하나님께 제사를 먼저 드렸습니다. 그리고 모든 이스라엘 민족을 모아 그들에게 하나님의 율법을 읽어 주었습니다. 이는 그들이 하나님의 말씀에 순종했기 때문에 승리할 수 있었다는 사실을 모두에게 각인시키고, 공동체가 하나님의 율법에 순종하기로 다시 한번 굳게 다짐하는 시간이었습니다.

하나님의 말씀은 우리의 능력입니다. 예수님도 40일간 금식하신 후 사탄의 시험을 받으셨을 때 말씀으로 물리치고 승리하셨습니다. 우리도 예수님처럼, 또 이스라엘 민족처럼 날마다 승리하며 앞으로 나아가기 위해서는 하나님의 말씀을 알고 순종해야 합니다.

하나님의 말씀이 우리의 능력임을 믿고, 2025년을 하나님의 말씀으로 마무리하시길 바랍니다. 지금부터 매일 2~3장을 읽는다면, 12월이 끝나기 전에 마태·마가·누가·요한복음을 모두 읽을 수 있습니다. 하나님의 말씀 위에서 우리의 삶이 세워지고, 우리의 가정이 세워지기를 기도합니다.

“There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children and the foreigners who lived among them.” (v.35)

Israel was only able to conquer the city of Ai according to God’s command after Achan, who had disobeyed God’s word, was punished. After Israel won a great victory, Joshua built an altar and offered sacrifices to God first. Then he gathered all the people of Israel and read God’s law to them. This engraved in their hearts that their victory came because they obeyed God’s word, and it became a moment for the entire community to reaffirm their commitment to obeying God’s law.

God’s Word is our strength. When Jesus fasted for forty days and was tempted by Satan, he overcame and triumphed through the Word. Likewise, if we want to live in daily victory and move forward—like Jesus and like the people of Israel—we must know God’s Word and obey it.

Believing that God’s Word is our strength, I encourage you to finish the year 2025 grounded in the Word. If you begin now and read two to three chapters a day, you will be able to finish the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John before the end of December.

May your life and your household be firmly established on the Word of God.
